Subject Matter: A spirit of the forest
Inspired by my fascination with forests since moving from Australia to Europe, I wanted to create my own interpretation of a spirit who watches over the forests and breathes life into the trees, animals and ecosystem.
With a red squirrel on her head, and monarch butterflies scattered around her, she is a powerful force that looks after the forests. Her third eye has links to her spiritual power and shows that she is all-seeing over the forest.
The sculpture is approx. 15cm tall and uses fake eyelashes to really emphasise the form of the eyes. I thoroughly enjoyed this project and would like to continue to develop my sculpture using air-dry clay.
